Want some tips for maximising your beauty or aesthetics business this January?
With most spas and clinics reopening for the new year this week, it’s time to hit the ground running and gear up your business for 2020. And while January may be a quiet period for most beauty businesses, there’s no reason why you can’t kick-start your team and your strategies and get the momentum going now before the clients begin flooding back through your doors. Now may arguably be the best time of the year to get your affairs in order and your team rearing to go.
Here are a few ways you could be spending your January down-time, and begin driving clients back into your business:
Get back on socials
In most cases, your social platforms have likely been a little quiet of late, spare the occasion pre-scheduled posts over the holidays. Put some energy into them now while you have the chance – take lots of photos to store and use for later, take the time to follow other accounts, like others photos and leave comments. Get posting and hashtagging to build engagement back up and let clients know you’re back to business. Dedicate some time to be spent in the backend, analysing which of your posts were most successful last year so you can replicate similar ones.
Maximise New Year marketing
Put a big push behind any fitness, health and wellness-related services. This ‘new year, new me’ time is when they will be most successful. Memberships and plans are often in high demand for clients wanting to start a new health or wellness regime.
Organise your social & educational calendar
Start locking in events to attend for this year. If you’re like most of our readers, one of your new year’s resolutions will be to always keep learning, and there are so many incredible conferences and events already on the books for the year, including some exciting new ones, and most importantly, SPA+CLINIC’s annual BEAUTY & SPA Insiders on May 29th!
Team planning
If you’re a lover of team bonding, motivation and/or strategy sessions (or even if you’re not!) now is definitely the time to do so. It’s hard for anyone coming back to work after holidays, and what better way to regain focus, enthusiasm and excitement for your business than getting your team together for a day of fun and inspiration. This enthusiasm exuding from your staff is guaranteed to get clients back through the door a lot faster than a dull disposition will.
Introduce that ‘new thing’
Is there a service, device, system or other new ‘thing’ you’ve been waiting for the right time to introduce? Do it now. Stop putting it off and say yes to the new opportunity to make your business more profitable – this quiet period is the best time of year to introduce something new to your offerings so you and the team can get used to it and iron out any kinks.
Renew & refresh
Don’t forget to refresh those aspects of your business that can always use a tidy up after a long year – empty out old stock, samples and testers, give the premises (including lounges, throws, magazines etc) a good cleanse, tidy up your website, get rid of worn-out towels and uniforms, and declutter your client consults.
And most of all – refresh your goals. Make a list of what inspires you and what you want to achieve this year. As a business owner or manager, you are the key motivator for your staff, and if you have clear and exciting goals to share, your team will work hard to achieve them alongside you.
