We’re not entirely sure how the healthy lifestyle mantra of a spa can coexist with drinking Gin, but a new spa in Glasgow seems to have figured it out.
What you see is what you get at The Gin Spa, the “botanically inspired” brainchild of the same team who launched Gin71, a Gin-themed bar and restaurant, in 2014.
According to the website, “Gin Spa is the very first botanically inspired day spa in the world, and offers visitors a truly unique experience.”
“We have selected JustBe Botanicals as our signature product line for the launch of Gin Spa. Working closely with JustBe’s creator Gail, we have curated a list of bespoke treatments and packages which perfectly combine our passion for gin and it’s key elements with JustBe’s dedication to using high quality, hand made products crafted using natural botanical ingredients.”
Clients can choose a botanical aromatherapy oil at the start of their treatment, followed by picking inspirational cards to lift your spirits (before lifting another kind of spirit later). Arrival tea is served during a personal skin consultation before a customised facial, massage, or mani-pedi begins.
Sounds like a standard spa visit, but the selling point comes served in a cocktail glass after the treatment. Clients can choose a complimentary gin drink to enjoy after their spa experience while surrounded by gin bottle lights and other gin-relates paraphernalia.
It’s an interesting approach to the saturated spa market, and we can’t help but imagine similar concepts – how about a beer spa? Soak in a tub of barley while enjoying a stein. Or how about a wine spa? Actually, that one already exists in several European countries. Time to bring the alcohol spas to Australia, we say.
