Refine Skin Clinic have opened a new space that was designed with the client experience in mind.
Renovating or rebuilding your clinic is an exciting time but it can be hard to know where to start. Jacinta Knight, owner of Refine Skin Clinic in Albury Wodonga, has just reopened her clinic in a brand-new space and has shared her advice on translating your services into a design for your interiors.
Unfortunately, Jacinta and her team were only operating from the shiny new clinic for four days before they were plunged back into lockdown. But, if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that COVID won’t stop us from admiring the beautiful interiors.
Why did you decide to renovate your clinic?
Jacinta Knight: Refine Skin 2.0 was designed for our clients. After almost 5 years in our prior location we had outgrown the space, both physically but also from a client experience point of view.
Refine Skin offers a sensory experience to achieve healthy skin, and it was time to create a space that truly embodied the authentic connection we have with our clients, and our focus on inclusivity, a space for everyone’s personal skin journey to take shape.
Finding a bigger space to call home, we knew we wanted to create a light and welcoming atmosphere, where we could get to know our clients (and their skin), putting them at ease throughout their treatments. The perfect combination of calm, warmth and luxury was our brief.
What was the process like? Did you manage the project yourself or enlist a professional?
JK: The Refine Skin vision was brought to life by so many hardworking and talented locals in the Albury Wodonga area, and we’re beyond grateful.
We partnered with Anthony Baker and his team at Premier Building and Construction. For the high-end design, they were able to create a chic combination of cool whites nestled against timber accents, to embody the luxurious new look and feel of the clinic.
The team were definitely up for the challenge, as the build was completed in just six weeks, and even a COVID lockdown didn’t deter the team from coming together, going above and beyond to bring our vision to life.
The professionalism of all trades involved made the entire process easy (yes, a construction project that went pretty much to plan – the dream team!)
The styling of the clinic was such an important element in creating a warm and welcoming client experience, juxtaposed with the knowledge and results-focused drive of our team, backed by all things innovations.
I took the lead in the styling department, bringing in neutral and natural tones and textures. Styling the reception was my personal favourite. We spared no expense when creating each room or space within the clinic, especially the reception and working with the endless arches and our soft colour palette allowed me to bring to life that instant feeling of calm, beauty and luxury, all combined together.
What was the most unexpected challenge?
JK: Truthfully, making decisions on what I thought would be the simplest of things. Such as choosing a paint colour. This felt particularly difficult as I knew I didn’t want white, or a clinical or cold feel. I knew that the colour I chose would help create the soft and welcoming feel of the clinic, and luckily, I worked with amazing trades throughout the process that helped with their expertise for me to execute exactly what I was looking for.
What was your inspiration behind the interior design?
JK: Creating a space that matched the Refine Skin brand, authentically true to our story, for our clients to lift their confidence, and our team to feel at home.
In terms of the client experience, inclusivity was a driver for both the client experience, and how our brand/business is perceived. We were looking to bring soft lines, with archways and long hallways that are welcoming. Our colour palette was refreshed to hero a neutral colour palette, and a reflection of different skin tones, and bringing to life the individual approach we take at Refine Skin.
Refine Skin offers a sensory experience to achieve healthy skin. A place to express your individuality and lift your confidence. Our love for what we do touches beyond the surface. It reflects our commitment to improve the health and integrity of your skin.
