Wage Increases You Must Be Aware Of

Correct wages are vital for your business. Each financial year the Minimum Wage Panel, a division of the Fair Work Commission (FWC), is responsible for reviewing and setting minimum wages for all employees under the national workplace system in all industries.

As part of the Fair Work Act 2009, the panel has reviewed the minimum wage order and the current modern award minimum wages for all employees covered under Fair Work.

For the new financial year, 2015-2016, a decision has been announced that a 2.5 percent wage increase to the national minimum wage for all modern awards will come into effect from the first pay period starting on or after July 2015.

The Fair Work Commission did take into consideration a number of factors including the current economical climate including the reduction in inflation and wages growth, CPI index, unemployment rate, the cost of living within Australia, as well as submissions which were made to review each award on a case by case basis.
