Our Highlights From The Fresh Life 2023

The conference with a twist.

After experiencing The Fresh Life 2022 in Brisbane, we had high hopes for this year’s iteration of the Cosmetic Nurse conference. After all, The Fresh Life is known for being different to ‘classic’ conferences. The focus is on a fun and casual environment, being outdoors away from dark conference rooms, and wellness activities. What can we say, The Fresh Life 2023 did not disappoint.

A major drawcard of this year’s gathering was the venue: The Crystalbrook, Byron Bay. Nestled among lush rain forest and just minutes from the beach, the Crystalbrook made this conference feel like a holiday. Gigantic tipi style tents were erected around the stunning pool area, rattan furniture and large outdoor rugs made us feel like we were somewhere in Bali while we connected with likeminded people and learned from the best in the industry.

Two large stages provided ample space for presentations by some of the world’s most prolific injectors, as well as marketing experts and motivational speakers. Our highlights were the opening keynote from Yemi Penn, who spoke about the concept of being a possibilitarian, and why we shouldn’t be afraid to dream big. We also loved Dr Steven Liew’s presentation, during which he compared his approach to a female patient’s face to that of AI technology. A side by side video showed his treatment and the computer program’s changes to the face, and proved that, at this moment in time, we don’t have to be afraid AI will take over our jobs.

Dr Bob Khanna, who came all the way from the UK, impressed nurses with his unique approach to injecting and deep knowledge of anatomy. Presentations by Suzie Hoitink, Woodrow Wilson, and Sam Peek, gave delegates the tools to become even better entrepreneurs and practitioners.

Next to the main area of the Crystalbrook, aesthetic brands and sponsors of The Fresh Life had their treatment rooms where hands-on training and practical workshops were offered throughout the conference. Delegates could book in for the treatments or workshops they were interested in ahead of time.

The ‘piece de resistance’ of The Fresh Life 2023 was undoubtdedly the Coachella-themed party sponsored by Hugel Aesthetics, and aptly names ‘Freshchella’. Hundreds of nurses donned their best festival outfits and enjoyed great food, great music, and a free ‘jewel station’ where face gems were applied making everyone look extra sparkly. A ferry floss bar, countless photo opps, and a sneaky swim in the pool by Fresh Clinics Founders John Holbrook and John Delaney made Freshchella a night to remember.

Throughout the three days, there were massages, yoga, and breathwork classes on offer, making sure delegates prioritised their own wellbeing as well as the many learning opportunities. Healthy food, a coffee cart keeping everyone caffeinated, and no sight of plastic bottles were just a few of the small but important details we noted.

We really enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere of The Fresh Life 2023 and the luxurious venue in one of Australia’s most beautiful places, Byron Bay, which made the conference feel a little less like work, and more like a retreat with upskilling benefits. Well done, Fresh Clinics.
