Last Thursday, The Daily Mail snapped photographs of makeup artist Karly Tsivoglou eating fairy floss at Oaks Day (above). A week later, she’s an internet celebrity.
Why do Netizens collectively love and share certain images, elevating them to “viral” status?
No-one is certain, but being singled out by radio stars Kyle and Jackie O may have helped the process for this 18-year-old Melburnian. Also, the fact that cotton candy is hot on social media right now.
Add to that, she’s drop dead gorgeous.
Finally, zoom in and you’ll note her smokey eye makeup is not only on point, it’s burgundy …
This is arguably the hottest shade of the season, (sported by the likes of Olivia Wilde, Kylie Jenner and Carla Delevingne).
The young beauty pro is currently working at a few different salons in Melbourne.
“Since I began posting my work to my Instagram, people started contacting me to do their makeup,” she says.
“Before I trained to become a professional makeup artist, I watched tutorials on my laptop every day, trying to replicate the latest look.
“My family would ask if I could do their makeup for special occasions, which was when I discovered my talent.
” When my clients look in the mirror after their transformation with a big smile, I feel such joy.”
“The secret to a lasting smokey eye is to prime the base of your eyelids, I use a creamy neutral.”
“Next, use a soft, peachy, warm brown to define the crease of your lid”
“Using a dense brush, apply a dark, metallic, reddish brown shadow over the entire lid. The colour should be intense on the lash line and blended out towards the brow line.” (The Aubergine G shade from Kryolan’s extensive range of shadows is rich, shimmery and perfect for cherry cola eyes.)
“Create a soft `wing’ using a matte jet black shadow at the outer corner of the eyes.”
“For a more intense look, swap the shadow for a gel eyeliner and draw a well-defined wing.”
“Blend all the colours together with a matte, darkish brown, making sure to fade harsh lines. It should look multi-dimensional when finished.”
“Frame the eye with long, voluminous lashes. Do two coats of mascara.”
