Introducing Advanced Minerals: The Makeup Range That’s Suitable For Post-Procedure Use

Created by Annie Mao, a former aesthetician and makeup artist of 25+ years.

Following aesthetic procedures, it’s often recommended that makeup not be used. But, post-treatment – when skin may be red or irritated – is often one of the times we’d really like the option to cover up with foundation.

To provide a solution, former specialist aesthetician and makeup artist, Annie Mayo, launched Advanced Minerals in 2009. The range has been designed to be safe to use after procedures such as microdermabrasion, hydra facials, and Rezenerate treatments.

The story behind Advanced Minerals

With her experience both on set as a makeup artist and performing facial treatments as an aesthetician, Mayo was inspired to use her unique insights to create a range that both professionals and consumers love. After working with actors who were routinely required to wear makeup, she understood the value of using natural ingredients.

“Being a television and film make up artist for over 25 years I really saw the need for clean beauty, not only on the set but to bring to the consumer. I wanted something that was paraben, talc, dye, perfume-free and had a built-in sunscreen so I developed Advanced Minerals makeup,” explains Mayo.

The Advanced Minerals product lineup

So far, the collection includes a range of colour cosmetics and tools including foundations, eyeshadow palettes, lip colours, brushes, and more.

Advanced Minerals is oncology-safe, not tested on animals, and has also won awards through Day Spa Readers Choice Awards and the Aestheticians Choice Awards 2020 and 2018.

Extra care and attention were also paid to the development of the brand’s foundations.

“One of the biggest differences is that the colours of the foundations, especially in the liquid, mimic the skin and become your skin so it is very difficult to pick the wrong colour – which I find to be one of the biggest mistakes that women make when picking a foundation,” says Mayo.

The ingredients

Made with pure, pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, the Advanced Minerals range features naturally derived elements.

“I wanted a natural sunscreen so I choose zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to protect the skin against UVA as well as UVB rays. Vitamins such as E and A, green tea and jojoba oil are used in some of our products,” explains Mayo.

Who Advanced Minerals is suitable for

The Advanced Minerals range is suitable for all complexion types – including those with post-treatment skin. “Our products are safe for post-procedure because all ingredients are clean non-comedogenic and protect the skin from harmful rays of the sun,” says Mayo.

Those with sensitivity issues will also benefit from the clean beauty range. “My products are suited for everyone that enjoys clean beauty and for those with sensitive or health-challenged skin,” explains Annie.
