We hear from Kailo Medispa about what it’s like to remain open.

With a handful of facilities open at the moment for health-based services, we wanted to find out more about how clinics were facilitating these treatments, what it’s like operating amidst the current chaos and confusion, and how they’re managing patients.

Kailo Medispa, based inside the Calile hotel Brisbane, is one such business, and is currently open part time to offer IV Vitamin Therapy. Patients are seen, by appointment only, by Kailo doctors inside private treatment rooms, and treated with specific or general health and/or immune boosting options such as Vitamin C and Glutathione, B Forte, Vitamin D, NAD + IM, or a Multi B complex.

Kailo Medispa founders Kristy Park and Kath Merlo tell us more.

Tell us about your Vitamin Therapy
As part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kailo is currently closed for all skin, spa and cosmetic procedures and treatments. In order to assist our guests with their health and wellbeing, Kailo is currently open for Vitamin Therapy by appointment only which is managed by our medical team of doctors and nurses. Kailo has offered Vitamin Therapy as part of our wellness programs since opening in 2018, and we have many guests who regularly receive infusions.

Why is this an important treatment to offer right now?
We believe that many people are looking to improve their overall health and wellbeing. Vitamin Therapy is a great way to assist the immune system and improve energy levels. Now more than ever people are concerned with their health and want to ensure they are giving their bodies the best nutrients and minerals to perform at their best. The COVID-19 pandemic has also increased our focus on health. People are looking at ways to feel and live better.

Are you offering any other treatments at Kailo at the moment?
At this stage our treatments only extend to telehealth medical consultations and vitamin therapy. We also offer online skin consultations and product orders.

What are your opening hours at the moment?
At this stage our vitamin therapy is only available for 1-2 days per week by appointment but this may increase if demand is there. Our phone and online orders are available Mon-Fri 8am-4pm.

Tell us about your health/safety/hygiene/social distancing protocols in place
Our medical team and staff currently working on site have put strict hygiene protocols in place. This includes an online questionnaire for every IV booking, and temperature checks before entering Kailo. Our doctors and medical team wear PPE at all times and each treatment is given in isolation in individual rooms. Extra cleaning and hygiene practices have been added to the physical space at Kailo.

What do you believe are the most important things we can offer right now as wellness and/or aesthetics businesses?
Right now we believe the most important thing is to focus on our team and ensuring we use this time for training and upskilling. We also focus on educating and informing our guests through regular video content and social media engagement. Our team is working hard to provide relevant information about good at-home skincare and health practices to their clients. This is also a time to focus on our strategic planning and goals for the future. I think most businesses are trying to work out ways to improve their practices, systems, and to upskill their teams, so that we all have a better offering of services when business reopens.

We believe that there will be an increasing focus on health and wellbeing after this pandemic passes, which is a good thing for our industry!
