WA’s First Aesthetic Symposium Is Here

With a stellar lineup of guest speakers and presentations, the Australian Aesthetic Symposium is set to impress – we speak to one of the event’s founders, Jessica Ferris RN.

Western Australia is set to host its very first Australian Aesthetic Symposium (AAS) on May 15th-17th, bringing together some of the most sought-after experts in the medical aesthetics industry.

Designed to provide cutting-edge education, professional development, and networking opportunities, this now inaugural event aims to elevate WA’s presence in the aesthetics industry.

A curated guest speaker lineup

Unlike traditional conferences that focus solely on injectables, AAS 2025 is designed to deliver a well-rounded and future-focused program. The event will cover a diverse range of topics, including:

  • The ethical landscape of aesthetic medicine
  • Advanced consulting techniques
  • Body dysmorphia awareness and patient psychology
  • Business acumen for clinic owners
  • The role of menopause in aesthetics
  • The integration of ultrasound technology in clinical practice
  • New product launches and their impact on treatment protocols

We spoke with one of the event’s founders Jessica Ferris (RN) to learn more about the inspiration behind the event, the thoughtfully curated speaker lineup, and what attendees can expect.

What inspired the creation of the Australian Aesthetic Symposium?

As an injector, I noticed the injectable community in Western Australia was often overlooked. Despite being the largest state, we had limited access to events and professional support compared to other regions. Attending interstate and international conferences highlighted the gap in opportunities for education, upskilling, and connection within our own community. I wanted to bridge that gap by creating a platform that brings the same level of high-quality education and support to WA. The Australian Aesthetic Symposium was born to not only provide these opportunities locally but also to celebrate and showcase the exceptional talent we have right here at home.

How do you select the speakers and topics to ensure they reflect the latest trends and advancements in the aesthetics industry?

We are committed to delivering a symposium that is meaningful and relevant, not just another event for the sake of it. Our approach focuses on curating a well-rounded, forward-thinking program that goes beyond core injectable topics. We’ve included diverse subjects such as ethics, consulting techniques, body dysmorphia, business acumen, the use of ultrasound in clinics, new product launches, and the role of menopause in aesthetics.

Each topic has been carefully chosen to address emerging trends and advancements within the industry. To ensure credibility and depth, we’ve invited expert speakers from Western Australia, alongside interstate and international contributors, to provide valuable insights and share their expertise. This thoughtful curation ensures the symposium delivers fresh, innovative, and practical knowledge that resonates with today’s aesthetic practitioners.

What do you hope attendees will take away from this year’s symposium, and how do you aim to differentiate it from other industry events?

AAS 2025 stands out as the only symposium of its kind by being an immensely interactive and comprehensive experience. It’s more than just a conference or a workshop—it’s a unique blend of engaging speaker sessions, dynamic panel discussions, and hands-on workshops tailored to meet the diverse needs of attendees. Delegates can choose their preferred upskilling path, from hands-on injectable glass facials with HUGEL and bio-stimulator sessions with Galderma to business mentoring with David Segal of IA Podcast, and more.

Our goal is to provide value to practitioners at all levels, whether they’re injectors or clinic owners, ensuring everyone leaves feeling more knowledgeable, skilled, and supported. By combining cutting-edge education, practical training, and community-building opportunities, AAS 2025 offers an unparalleled experience that sets it apart from traditional industry events.

Can you share any behind-the-scenes challenges or milestones that shaped this year’s event?

When creating something new, it’s expected that not everyone will immediately see or believe in your vision—that was a challenge we were prepared for. What truly surprised me, however, was the overwhelming support from the WA community.

From the outset, people reached out to offer their help, whether by contributing their expertise via speaker sessions, spreading the word about the symposium, or promoting it on social media. Seeing the community rally behind this event has been one of the most rewarding milestones. It’s a testament to the collective passion and commitment within the aesthetics industry in WA. This incredible level of support has not only shaped the event but reinforced why it’s so important to create opportunities like this for education, connection, and growth in our state.

What role does collaboration and community play in the success of the symposium, and how do you see it impacting the future of the aesthetics industry in Australia?

Collaboration and community are at the heart of the symposium’s success. Bringing together practitioners, educators, and industry leaders fosters an environment where knowledge, skills, and experiences are shared openly. This collective approach not only elevates individual practitioners but strengthens the aesthetics industry as a whole. By creating a space for connection, we aim to break down stigmas, encourage innovation, and provide practitioners with the support they need to grow.

Looking ahead, this spirit of collaboration has the potential to transform the aesthetics industry in Australia. By nurturing a strong, united community, we can drive higher standards of care, embrace advancements more effectively, and address challenges collectively. The symposium is more than an event; it’s a catalyst for shaping the future of aesthetics in Australia, ensuring a more inclusive, educated, and connected industry for years to come.
