Revolutionising skin rejuvenation with natural, long-lasting results.
When it comes to cutting-edge skincare, few professionals are as highly regarded as Dr Anne Chapas. As a US board-certified dermatologist with a distinguished career, Dr Chapas has built a reputation for excellence in laser and cosmetic treatments.
At her practice, UnionDerm in New York City, Dr Chapas employs the latest technologies to provide her patients with exceptional care. One such technology that has brought significant attention is Sofwave—a non-invasive ultrasound treatment that has become a favourite among her patients for its ability to rejuvenate and lift the skin naturally.
Dr Chapas shares her insights on why Sofwave stands out in the field of dermatology and how it has become an integral part of her practice.
Dr Chapas, can you give us a brief overview of your qualifications and what kind of dermal work you do?
I am a US board-certified dermatologist and earned my medical degree with honors from Harvard Medical School. I am the founder and medical director of UnionDerm in New York City and an Instructor in Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I have a lot of experience in laser and cosmetic treatments, and strive to apply the latest scientific research to deliver the best possible care and results for each patient.
You’re using Sofwave in your practice, can you explain the technology and why you like working with it?
Sofwave uses a unique form of non-invasive ultrasound technology to create new collagen and elastic tissue in the skin. Sofwave’s unique parallel ultrasound beam delivery system has a large contact area and repeatable energy deposition to give consistent, fast treatments on the face and body. It also has a contact cooling surface that makes the treatment comfortable for patients.
Besides facial lifting, what else can the device treat and how do you most commonly use it?
Sofwave can be used to treat a variety of conditions on and off the face. We use it frequently for tightening skin on the neck, arms, abdomen and legs and to improve the appearance of cellulite. We also use it to improve the appearance of acne scars and fine lines around the mouth
Who is an ideal candidate for Sofwave/what’s important to consider?
Sofwave has been used on a variety of patients with great success. Given that ultrasound technology is “colour-blind” we use it in patients of all ethnicities and skin types. It’s important to counsel patients that the technology stimulates their own production of collagen and elastin tissue and that happens gradually over several months.
What is some of your patients’ feedback/how do they find the treatment experience?
We’ve been using Sofwave for over 4 years with great success. Patients love that it’s comfortable and that they can go back to all of their work and social activities immediately. They also like that it provides natural looking results and improved skin quality.
Do you combine Sofwave with other treatments?
We frequently combine Sofwave with vascular and pigment-based energy devices to achieve a global improvement. The Sofwave treatment is performed first and then the laser or energy-based device is applied immediately after.
