Alluring Minerals was born because founder Cher Donaldson was tired of seeing the cosmetics industry take advantage of women, charging them a premium for products full of cheap fillers and harmful chemicals.
Like many girls, Cher started wearing makeup in her early teens to hide her problematic skin.
But the foundation she was using to cover up was only making her skin troubles worse. Not seeing any other options, she kept wearing it.
“My story is a common one,” says Cher, “because most cosmetics companies are more interested in making a profit than ensuring our skin is taken care of.
“Mineral makeup is a miracle alternative to traditional makeup as it’s designed not only to conceal and enhance, but also to act as a healing product on the skin.
“Finally – and very importantly – Alluring Minerals is 100% cruelty free. It breaks our hearts that cosmetic companies are still using this barbaric practice, and supposedly in the name of beauty.
“We’re very passionate about raising awareness around this and proving that animal testing is completely unnecessary, so we are extremely careful in sourcing products that never test on animals.
“I started researching and designing in my mind what I wanted in a brand as I was spending a fortune on mineral makeup.
“But unfortunately as a mum of five it didn’t agree with my budget. I really thought to myself, there has got to be a better way to get high quality cosmetics without breaking the budget!
“This is where my journey began. I researched and researched focusing solely on suppliers that help you design your own line of all natural cruelty free cosmetics using only the highest quality ingredients with the same ethos as me.
“My aim is to be able to give all women who love makeup and skincare access to natural, organic high quality cosmetics at an affordable price (I know the word affordable is a no no so I normally would say accessible).
“It needed to be effective, give coverage, heal problem skin and be suitable for all skin types, sensitive or not.
“Basically I created a range of cosmetics I would look for and along the journey have even developed specially requested products from my customers always trying to innovate and stay on top of the industry.
“I created a product range for women who want high performing, effective products that contain no nasty toxins, sulphates, synthetic ingredients or fillers so your skin can breath and be flawless.
“In addition customer service is another passion! I want to give the best service and create a vibe where women want to be a part of something bigger then just makeup and skincare! I’m also conscious of the environment and have created little gift bags made from cotton rather than using wasteful boxes that just get thrown out. These 100% cotton bags were another element added to my brand to reduce waste and are reusable as little bags to take with you on a walk and put your phone, money and lipgloss, of course, in rather than carrying a handbag or putting your makeup in them to protect them in your handbag or whatever you feel like really!
I also am passionate about educating women on what goes in traditional cosmetics and how it only takes 26 seconds for what you put onto your skin to go into your bloodstream. Pretty alarming when you think about some of the nasty chemicals in products.
“I was also a makeup artist for a while and have always loved makeup, mainly because of the confidence it brought me and the way it makes a woman feel.”
