SUPERDERM

Many ingredients used in cosmeceutical skincare are designed to ‘exfoliate’ (aka burn) off the protective epidermal barrier, according to Deborah Crosby, CEO at Bodilite Professional Beauty Systems, creators of BodiDerm paramedical skincare. ‘This is harmful and inflammation-inducting.’

BodiDerm is an all-natural line free of paraben, colour and fragrance, designed to calm (not cause) inflammation.

‘At the same time it helps maintain epidermal integrity to maximise and focus the skin’s repair efforts on pre-existing conditions without creating new ones,’ she says.

‘Ingredient penetration is the next emphasis of BodiDerm, as the dermal stimulating ingredients won’t work unless they actually penetrate deep enough to exert a physiological effect on the cells that they are designed to influence. ‘There is significant research showing that most skin care has a penetration rate of only two percent!

‘Many people think that acidic creams and serums penetrate better but that is not true.

‘Independent studies show that 98 percent of ingredients are wasted if a line does not have an effective absorption strategy.

‘BodiDerm has an advanced delivery system – phosphatidylcholine liposomes, the same material that is in our skin’s cell walls, proven in research to increase penetration by 1000 percent.’

One of BodiDerm’s big guns is Superderm. The first of its key ingredients is EGF (plant-derived epidermal growth factor), a peptide that helps accelerate the growth of epidermal cells with the aim of reducing wrinkles and assisting in wound healing.

The second ingredient is Caprooyl Tetrapeptide-3, a biomimetic peptide derived from a growth factor that boosts collagen production, activates skin repair, and also reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

‘Together these peptides leave your feeling firmer and rejuvenated,’ says Deborah.
