The immersive experience provides an escape like no other.
A restored 16th-century Tuscan fortress will soon be home to a luxurious health retreat. Hosted by The Thinking Traveller in partnership with Ricari Studios, the six-night immersion experience will be held at Forte San Giorgio on the Tuscan island of Capraia from 18 to 24 September 2022.
“Ricari is thrilled to be collaborating with such an esteemed institution as The Thinking Traveller. With this special partnership, we are expanding our offering to include curated destination experiences that unite the restorative power of travel with that of our treatments,” shares Ricari Studios Founder, Anna Zahn, in a media release about the launch.
The program
Hosted by The Thinking Traveller in partnership with Ricari Studios, the retreat’s program features Ricari’s signature treatments, private and group fitness sessions, hikes through Capraia, ocean swimming, boat trips, sunrise meditation, and massage treatments. To cap it all off, Italian dining experiences like aperitivo hour and wine tastings are also included in the schedule.
Yoga, walking, and swimming are just a few of the activities on offer during the retreat.

During the retreat, each guest will experience three Ricari Method treatments. The Ricari Method is comprised of a combination of manual and mechanical stimulation to tone the skin while sculpting the body and releasing tight muscles. The non-invasive technique has a cult following amongst A-listers and wellness devotees in Los Angeles, New York, and London.
Guests will also be treated to skincare by Villa Floriani during their stay. This luxury Italian brand heroes high-performing natural ingredients and the new Costa body care collection was inspired by Capraia and created in collaboration with the owners of Forte San Giorgio.

The facilities
Forte San Giorgio has 11 bedrooms spread across a series of separate wings on multiple floors and boasts panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Italian mainland, and the islands of Elba and Monte Cristo.
A range of decadent spaces and facilities will be available for guests to use including two infinity pools, two panoramic al fresco dining terraces, a bar, a cinema room, an open-air summer room, and a Yoga studio.
The cost
The six-night experience is available exclusively through The Thinking Traveller with pricing starting at around €6,750 per person (approximately $10,200) – based on two people sharing a room. This rate is inclusive of all meals, accommodation, and transfers.
It goes to show the increasing popularity of wellness travel, or mindful travel, where people expect more than just luxurious accommodation and a large breakfast buffet for their hard earned money. Instead, they want to live healthy and return from their holiday ‘better than before’, mentally and physically.
