Eat Your Heart Out, Pregnancy Pigmentation!

Many women experience hyperpigmentation during pregnancy – so much so, the distinctive discolourations have been dubbed The Mask Of Pregnancy.

Of course, most pregnant women experience an increase in appetite, too. The good news is that you may be able to eat your way out of pregnancy and post-natal pigmentation.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner Zhang Yifang, three vegetables will strengthen the liver and can help limit the extent of hyperpigmentation. Combine them with pickles or ice cream, or both, if you’re so inclined!

“When women are pregnant, liver blood is disturbed by the growing baby. Consequently, the quantity of blood to the mothers skin surface is lessened, so she may develop pigmentation,” Zhang explains in her Guide To Holistic Beauty.
