Author of Healthy Healing, Dr Linda Rector Page, recommends this super-simple one-pot vegetable broth to boost energy levels and alleviate stress.
It’s packed with potassium, an electrolyte with many essential jobs: it helps conduct nerve impulses and muscle contractions, regulates the flow of fluids and nutrients in and out of cells, and helps keep blood pressure in check, partly by countering the effects of sodium.
Essentially, the level of potassium in the blood can make the difference between normal and abnormal activity in the heart and blood vessels.
All you need for this potent potassium-rich broth are the ingredients pictured below.
Pop them all in a pot, cover with water, simmer for 30 minutes, then strain and discard solids:
4 Carrots
2 Potatoes (peeled and washed)
1 Onion
2 Celery stalks
1/2 Bunch parsley
1/2 Head lettuce
1/2 Bunch broccoli
2 Teaspoons Braggs Liquid Aminos (A high protein, soy flavoured condiment that be purchased in most health food stores. Keep stored in a refrigerator.)
