A healthy mind and body breed better decision making and can help you manage your business, and your team, through tough times.
Whether you’re going through lockdown closures or not, caring for your wellbeing will always be an important part of being a business owner. Time and access have been an issue in the past however the rise of digital resources are making it really easy to switch off the stress and switch on your self-care mode.
We’ve rounded up a few different online wellness resources that focus on different areas of wellbeing to bring you a well-rounded approach to healthy living at home. You can also use these resources to improve your workplace wellness by sharing them with your team members who might need a helping hand or extra motivation to care for the mind, body and spirit.
1. Smiling Mind
Developed by a team of health professionals, Smiling Mind is a free app that helps to bring mindfulness and stress management resources to your pocket. It was originally developed as a tool to help treat and prevent mental health concern in youths and has since grown to be a useful tool for everyone with programs for educators, households and a specialised program to help small business owners. Expect tips and tools that help to increase productivity, reduce stress and anxiety and increase your ability to care for your emotional wellbeing.
2. KAAIAA
KAAIAA is a practice that focuses on the four main pillars of health; mental, physical, emotional and integration. The guided classes are a treat for the mind, body and soul with practices that will help you de-stress and reinvigorate your wellbeing.
Founder Leah Simmons shares, “KAAIAA is basically the culmination of my life! As a working PT and Pilates instructor I realised fairly quickly that just training your physical body wasn’t enough to make you happy. Sure, I gained the physical results I was looking for, but it had no effect on the other areas of my life. I was looking to enhance my relationships, my mindset, my overall feeling of fulfillment.
“KAAIAA is a dynamic combination of Breath Work, Body Work, Meditation and Integration. Every class begins with Breath Work that floods your body with oxygen, opens up your neural pathways and activates your nervous system to foster laser-sharp focus and increased clarity. It then moves into Body Work. Challenging, functional strength sequences for a strong, lean body, increased stamina and mobility. We then flow into a beautiful guided meditation to balance and align your energy centres, recalibrate your thoughts and connect you to your centre. Finally, we finish the class with a powerful integration technique that is designed to help you break through emotional barriers, release any limiting beliefs around your abilities and give you the tools to be able to make profound changes across your life.
“While many are still in lockdown, they can experience a class online. I have worked so hard on the production of all of the online classes, especially with the music soundtrack! The benefit is you have many options to choose from. There are 30, 45- or 60-minute classes with a variety of different ones available.”
3. This Way Up
A joint non-profit venture between The University of New South Wales and St Vincent’s Hospital, This Way Up offers practical tools and a range of self-guided online wellness courses that teach clinically-proven techniques to care for your mental health. Courses range across multiple categories including dealing with specific mental health conditions to general wellbeing, stress management and COVID specific resources. Best of all, the range of tailored courses are all free to access.
4. Soul Alive
Soul Alive is an online meditation studio that offers a place to relax, recharge and rebalance from the comfort of home. Founded by Luke McLeod, it aims to help introduce meditation in an approachable and convenient manner. The service currently offers live guided classes throughout the week and the structure is designed to make it easier for people to stick with meditation. They also have a large on-demand platform and Luke has also recently launched a 4-week program that runs monthly called THRIVE.
“THRIVE is a 4Wk virtual experience where I guide everyone through learning the art of mindfulness meditation via a mix of live guided meditations and talks,” shares Soul Alive founder, Luke. “It’s truly a beautiful and valuable experience plus an opportunity to carve out a little more ‘you’ time to relax and recharge which I’m sure we could all do with a bit more of these days. It also helps debunk some myths and gives you the tools and tips that you need to get the most out of your practice.”
