Discover the second instalment of the award-winning, global collection in New Zealand. Writes Ashleigh Sharman.
With the 2013 launch and subsequent success of the So SPA brand at Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, the time was ripe for New Zealand’s South Island to take in some relaxation and pampering with sister property Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa opening its arms to the award-winning brand.
“We are thrilled to unveil our global spa concept to provide hotel guests and local residents with a world-class spa experience in Queenstown,” Wouter de Graaf, Area General Manager of Sofitel Luxury Hotels New Zealand, says.
Like its Auckland counterpart, So SPA Queenstown provides a complete sanctuary with a refreshed range of extravagant treatments designed to suit both the adventure and pleasure seeking tourists who frequent the popular town for its epic scenery and outdoor lifestyle.
“Wellness is a growing focus for Sofitel Luxury Hotels, and our comprehensive range of deluxe treatments, together with high-end products and stylish treatment rooms are in line with So SPA’s across the world,” adds de Graff.
Encouraging a personalised approach to wellness, Sofitel guests indulge in a ‘menu’ themed treatment list with: ‘Starters’ lasting 30 minutes and are designed for busy urbanites seeking rest and relaxation; ‘Mains’ and ‘Desserts’ lasting an hour and feature full body massages, facial care, and other luxurious treatments utilising French cosmetology brand THÉMAÉ, and skin and body products from Sothys and Pure Fiji.
The guest’s tailored experience begins with a complimentary fragrant foot bath and private consultation. Further enhanced with five treatment rooms, boasting individual showers and steam rooms, a couples’ suite complete with cedar wood Jacuzzi, an infra-red room, relaxation rooms and a discovery bar, where guests are encouraged to further unwind following their treatment over a freshly brewed tea and healthy snack.
And despite establishing a luxury escape from the modern world, So SPA Queenstown has not forgotten its roots along the pristine shores of Lake Wakatipu.
Meticulously crafted, local artworks with influences of traditional Maori greenstone have been incorporated into the spa décor and a ‘local favourites’ menu comprising Healing Manuka Honey Facial, Greenstone Massage and Ataahua Beautiful Body Treatment, will surprise and delight.
