Mala McAlpin An exciting announcement has just been issued by ASAPS – as the Non-Surgical Symposium approaches its 10th anniversary, a fresh new look and feel will soon be incorporated into the 2020 summit, complete with new logo, an inspiring new set of core values, and some exciting additions and renewed focus.
“The new NSS logo symbolises continuous and collegial multidisciplinary collaboration through innovation and education to enhance patient safety,” read yesterday’s announcement. “Although there are some visible changes, the core ethos of the event namely education, innovation and patient safety remain unchanged and stronger than ever before.”
Next year’s conference will begin with the Anatomy Dissection and Cosmetic Procedures Workshop on June 11th in Brisbane, followed by the official Non-Surgical Symposium from 12-14 June on the Gold Coast. Former President, Dr Scott Ingram and current President of the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), Dr Naveen Somia will be the co-Scientific Convenors of the NSS.
Dr Somia and Dr Ingram are no strangers to putting on large-scale educational events with both intimately involved with the NSS and other ASAPS Educational Events such as the ASAPS Annual Conference.
Dr Tim Papadopoulos will continue as the Scientific Convenor for the Workshop. The ASAPS Board thanks Dr Papadopoulos for his work on the NSS in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Dr Papadopoulos worked tirelessly to bring a dynamic line-up of speakers from across the globe, with the 2019 event boasting 16 keynotes.
One new focus during 2020’s NSS programme will include a more significant emphasis on the experiences and expertise of nurses. NSS have abolished the need for a doctor to verify nurses’ attendance, instead only a valid AHPRA registration number will be required. After a successful inaugural Nurses Forum was hosted at the 2019 event, we can expect to see it return next year.
The following topics have also been confirmed for the 2020 programme:
- Ultrasound assisted safe filler injection.
- Filler injection technique with virtual reality-based filler training system.
- Ideal and safe thread lifting techniques.
- Facial anatomy for injectables and threads.
- Cell therapy, Secretome, Exosome – new paradigm for regenerative medicine.
The ASAPS Surgeons Board also says of next year’s conference “while growing the event bigger is not on the cards, we certainly want to remain at the forefront of aesthetic education. We do this by continuing to listen to delegate feedback and shaping the NSS to meet the needs of its diverse audience. We are always overwhelmed with the positive feedback we get about the NSS and the Workshop in that they provide an immersive learning environment for delegates like no other.”
