Mala McAlpin Cosmoprof Asia has released an official statement to those attending the upcoming November expo that they will be doing everything in their power to ensure the safety of those visiting.
Due to months of civil unrest in Hong Kong, there has been uncertainty and speculation around this month’s Cosmprof Asia, the world’s largest and most highly anticipated global beauty industry exhibition. Some even anticipated that the event may change in location, following in the Global Wellness Summit’s footsteps (who moved the event from Hong Kong to Singapore just weeks out) but, at this point in time, Cosmprof Asia is indeed confirmed to go ahead with its original date and location in tact.
In response to international travellers’ concerns, Cosmprof Asia have released a formal press release around actions it is taking to ensure its guests’ comfort and safety. In the statement, David Bondi, Senior Vice President of Informa Markets and Enrico Zannini, General Manager of Bologna Fiere Cosmoprof Spa say “We are committed to organising a safe and enjoyable trade experience for our exhibitors and visitors. The Cosmoprof Asia team has been monitoring the developments in Hong Kong closely and working meticulously with our partners: venue management, contractors, hotels, security, and services providers to create additional measures and plans to enable a seamless trade experience.”
Several measures have been put into place throughout the conference, including:
- 10,000 complimentary hotel room nights exclusively for trade buyers invited by exhibitors. Each exhibitor may submit the names of two trade buyers who will be entitled to two complimentary hotel room nights during the Cosmoprof Asia show dates.
- Security measures at the venues – the show venues AWE and HKCEC have confirmed heightened security measures including tightened access control, increased number of security staff, and real-time monitoring of protest movement etc.
- Complimentary shuttle bus service – up to 500 bus trips to enable more comfortable and efficient travel for fair participants between the Airport and HKCEC/AWE to the Eastern and Western districts of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, and vice versa.
- Cross-border transportation for our guests from China.
- Dedicated counter at Hong Kong International Airport- stationed at the arrival hall A & B of Hong Kong International Airport to greet and welcome international exhibitors and visitors from 11-14 November.
Cosmoprof Asia also encourages guests to stay alert and monitor their social media and news channels, as well as other flight and transportation channels. Organisers also assure delegates that other trade fairs, such as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (organised by Informa Markets) went unaffected, and since protests happen over weekends, fairs during the week (including Cosmoprof) are therefore attract less of a safety concern.
