It’s an exciting year for Victoria’s premier beauty industry trade show, introducing us to a fresh new identity towards the end of last year and re-launching for the first time as ‘Beauty Melbourne’ at the MCEC on March 23rd. The name change (from its previous ‘Beauty Expo Melbourne’) is a subtle update designed to differentiate the event from its Sydney counterpart, Beauty Expo Australia.
“We are so excited to bring a refreshed Beauty Melbourne to Victoria this year” said Cory Watson, Event Director. “The team has been working hard to rejuvenate the event features, improve the visitor offering and ensure we have a mixture of inspiring education and premium brands that Victorian professionals want to do business with. We look forward to bringing a more bespoke offering to Melbourne that mirrors the city’s stylish, modern vibe.”
As always, organisers like to keep visitors on their toes with a few updates and new features each year, so what can we expect to see in Melbourne this season?
All-Access Education Pass
As always, the greatest emphasis is placed on educating beauty professionals, updating skills and knowledge to ensure they’re ahead of the competition in 2019. The event is introducing an All-Access Education Pass, which includes entry and provides access to a non-stop schedule of Look ‘n’ Learn education sessions over the weekend where pass holders can pick-and-choose to attend, depending on their preferences. Passes are $175 early bird* / $189 full-price.
Educators already confirmed to present this year include Dermalogica educator Lisa Paone, cosmetic tattoo guru Gordana Poljak, social media expert Heather Porter, nutritional skin specialist Chiza Westcarr, clean beauty industry-leader Cindy Lüken, brow henna specialist Jodie Burwood, bridal makeup artist Martha Mok, and dermal scientist Jennifer Byrne.
Advice Hub
Beauty Melbourne is thrilled to introduce their brand new Advice Hub this year, an exciting free service which will see a selection of experts offering complimentary one-on-one consultations with visitors that are seeking advice to improve their businesses and expand their knowledge.
Hands-On Learning
Education will be much more hands-on this year, with a selection of workshops for those seeking applied learning and demonstrations in their chosen craft. Yasmin Johnson will lead a practical microblading workshop; Heather Porter will show business owners how to get social-media savvy in her advanced social media bootcamp; and Renee Gurney will lead a hands-on henna brow workshop. Other workshops will include bridal makeup, basic makeup artistry skills, and lash techniques.
New Launches at Beauty Melbourne
Visitors to last year’s event may remember the new ‘Proudly Australian’ and ‘Proudly Natural’ initiatives, which heroed local brands that use natural ingredients by displaying prominent signage on their exhibitor stands. This year, following on from the success of the previous initiative, visitors will notice ‘Launchpad’ for the first time. ‘New Launch’ signs on selected stands will indicate that those brands that have either launched a product in the six months prior to the event, or are launching a product at the show, making it easier than ever for attendees to keep up with the industry’s latest.
