The aesthetics conference with a twist was a big success.
After a successful ROAR conference in Melbourne last month, ROAR Unleashed welcomed over 200 delegates to Taronga Zoo, Sydney last Saturday, almost doubling the amount of people compared to their inaugural event last year. Cosmetic nurses, doctors, physicians, dermal therapists as well as practice management staff attended the full-day event, enjoying the opportunity to mingle and catch up with industry peers in person.
Presented by Venus Concept and EnVogue, ROAR’s programme was once again a great mix of education on injectables, threads, and skincare, as well as the latest in rejuvenating laser technology and body contouring. Presenters Dr Lucas De Siqueira and Dr Cosima Karlburger demonstrated the combined use of injectables and threads to achieve a harmonious, natural looking result, while Dr Sean Arendse showed impressive results he achieves with Venus Concept’s Tribella device. Dr Nik Davies wowed the audience with information about the relatively new NeoGraft, a semi-automated hair grafting machine which restores his patients’ confidence.
But it wasn’t all about treatments; a highlight of the day was hearing award winning journalist Tracey Spicer talk about her career in media and struggle with sexism, ageism, and overall inequality when it comes to women in business. The audience was inspired and motivated to ‘keep fighting the good fight’, and also proud to be in an industry that is widely led by females.
And it wouldn’t be ROAR without a good portion of entertainment. The organisers of the conference pride themselves on offering more than just education and networking at ROAR, and so of course, we couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for us this time.
The afternoon slump had no chance thanks to a group of ‘wild dancers’ dressed up as animals performing an impressive choreography to the oldie but goodie ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’, in the middle of the auditorium. The entertainment continued during dinner at Taronga Zoo’s Epicure restaurant, with a professional juggler and a musical performance captivating the audience.
Our personal highlight? SPA+CLINIC Editor Nadine had the honour of announcing our August issue cover star on stage. We were so happy to give this opportunity to the Director of Art of Aesthetics, Jaclyn Isaacs, who has achieved outstanding results with Venus Concept devices as well as injectable services.
The conference ended with everyone on the dance floor boogie-ing away to hits from 1970 until today thanks to the DJs from Hot Dub Time Machine.
Congratulations to Venus Concept and EnVogue for another stellar conference! The next and final ROAR event of 2021 will be held on the Gold Coast on July 24.
