Welcome to one of our biggest issues in a long time.
The middle of the year is always exciting in the aesthetics industry as it seems to be the busiest in terms of launches, conferences, and overall motivation! My calendar is filled with event dates, my inbox is full of press releases, and my phone won’t stop ringing, but I am looking forward to the madness.
In this issue, we celebrate BTL Aesthetics’ 30th birthday and the success of their recent EMFACE launch. I actually tried the radiofrequency and HIFES face lifting technology, read my full review here. Spoiler alert: It was one of the weirdest sensations I’ve ever felt. We also take a deep dive into one of the most popular treatments of the past few years: Microneedling. Several experts have shared their techniques and insight with us into how you get optimal results with your needling pens, so make sure to read our microneedling feature on page 96.
If you’ve only got time to read one article right now, head to page 104 as the topic of skin cancer is one to be taken seriously. Have you ever considered that your aesthetic treatments could delay a skin cancer diagnosis as markers usually used to monitor or detect possible skin malignancy may be altered? To be honest, it wasn’t something I had given much thought to until I was asked to have a skin cancer check before a laser procedure a few months ago. If you feel the same, make sure you understand your responsibility as a skin practitioner and include skin cancer check recommendations in your consultations.
Lastly, we reached out to the TGA to get the low-down on advertising guidelines for Schedule 4 drugs in order to create a clear guide for you in terms of what you can and cannot say on social media – I know there is a bit of confusion out there, so hopefully this clarifies a few things. Head to page 108 for everything you need to know.
Happy reading!
