The Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD) is delighted to release its highly anticipated programme for the 2019 ASCD Symposium, held at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel from 20 – 22 September.
Committed to education, the ASCD is a not for profit organisation and part of the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc, with all proceeds fed back into further teaching and training for practitioners. A sell-out event for the past several years, the annual Symposium is designed to bring together national and international thought-leaders and industry pioneers that will allow attendees to take away inspiration, practical skills and knowledge.
Professor Greg Goodman, ASCD Symposium Convenor says of this year’s event “We will be exploring a small group learning activity format in Room B with emphasis on lasers and energy-based devices, skincare, regulatory aspects and the business of practice building. Trying to be a responsive organisation, this is a direct result of an amazing plenary on effective medical education last year.”
“We will again travel through the skin with new issues to be raised from the surface to the bone in Room A with a mixture of epidermal, dermal, subcutaneous and muscular concerns. We will start with our feature this year – and will focus on the eye and its surrounds, its beauty, and its peril.”
The Symposium’s 3-day programme is now available, including 11 overseas speakers and some great innovators including Dr Firas Al-Niaimi (UK) Dr Sonia Batra (USA) Dr Lila Bratani (Germany) Dr Antonio Campo (Spain) Dr Qiong LI (China) and Dr Frank Rosengaus (Mexico) to name a few.
Symposium topics include:
- Facial fillers (techniques and panel discussions)
- Facial muscles (area-specific)
- Skin rejuvenation
- Acne scarring
- Complications
- Hyperpigmentation and melasma
- Erythema & treatments
- Laser treatments for various skin conditions
- Controversies in skincare (including peels, skincare myths and chemical sunscreens)
- Suture techniques and selection
- PRP
- Cellulite and muscle tightening treatments
- …and plenty more!
Aside from the main conference schedule, there’ll be some special features on offer. On the day prior to the ASCD Symposium, the ASCD Masterclass will take place, offering an innovative, intensive, small group learning experience. Topics include photography tips, management of injectables complications, and communication skills for both patients and colleagues. Additional small group learning sessions can be found in concurrent room B throughout the Symposium, with topics including anatomy, communication, news and trends, scar treatment, skin & makeup, laser devices and injectables.
Networking opportunities are abundant too, with the welcome reception after day 1 of the Symposium, along with a Gala Dinner at Sheraton on the Park on the evening of Saturday 21st.
