Lava Shells can take clients’ massage treatments to a new experiential level with the therapeutic (and blissful!) benefits of radiant heat – no electricity, microwave or batteries required.
A world-first naturally self-heating massage tool, the shells are designed to allow a massage therapist, or anyone performing some type of bodywork, the ability to add heat into their techniques.
Lava Shells use the same heating technology as in the PerfectSense Paraffin system for hydrating hands and feet* combined with an all-natural heat absorber called Lava Gel (natural minerals and absorptive powders, including sea algae and dried kelp inside the shell).
The Activator device reacts with the natural minerals in the Lava Gel sachet and causes an exothermic reaction, creating a relaxing heat that is absorbed into the Lava Gel.
Once activated, a shell will continue to generate heat for up to an hour.
Natural Lava Shells are real, hand-selected Tiger Clam shells, composed of calcium carbonate, as all seashells are.
Porcelain Lava Shells are created using a blend of real seashells and porcelain for superior quality and feel.
The crown of the shells are smooth smooth; a gently rounded surface for long, broad strokes across major muscle groups, transmitting heat as you work.
They are ideal for working narrow areas or dragging to create torsion. The hinge forms a small, rounded knob and can be used to stimulate pressure points or work deep into knots for penetrating work.
Preparation and clean-up are very simple and should typically take less than a minute each.
The number of shells used with any given treatment depends on the its length and the amount of time during the treatment that you want to apply heat.
A 50-60 minute massage can use 1-4 shells, an 80-minute massage can use no fewer than 4 shells.
A 50-minute facial with a 20-minute hot shell neck and shoulder rub would rarely use more than one.
