Having an “alkaline body” has become something of a fashion statement.
Certain supermodels have hitched themselves to the “alkaline diet” bandwagon with a passion, preaching that it has helped them overcome stubborn issues involving weight and energy levels.
No doubt is has – certainly the ubiquitous bikini selfies speak volumes.
This in turn has spawned a new industry of alkaline formulas devised by the new devotees; no doubt #2 brilliant but tend to cost an arm and a leg, along with your first born.
In truth, alkaline diet principles are hardly new but it’s beneficial that they are being promoted by folk whose age-defying bodies and youthful glow are coveted.
A body that is acidic, due to diet and lifestyle, is highly inflamed, which lends itself to myriad health conditions and just plain pesky symptoms such as bloating, constipation, fluid retention and stubborn weight gain.
The latter make us feel uncomfortable and look and feel heavier than we actually are on the scales and in terms of Body Mass Index (BMS).
To help achieve a healthy alkaline state, start researching the best food and drink to ingest (or not).
In the meantime, here’s a meal-time super-simple alkaline smoothie – yummier and way cheaper than supermodel supplements.
