The Spa & Wellness awards are back in 2022, and this year the event will be hosted in Brisbane. SPA+CLINIC caught up with Spa & Wellness Founder and event organiser Kris Abbey, and our very own Nadine Dilong, who both will be on the panel at this year’s event.
The Spa & Wellness awards aim to recognise and celebrate those in the spa, wellness, and travel industries – including the people, properties, spas, skincare, and wellness brands that constantly commit to making experiences better. This year, there are six major categories with a major 30 awards to announce. These categories range from consumer voted awards, spa, travel, wellness, through to beauty and people.
“We’ve been wanting to bring back our Spa & Wellness awards since the demise of the Australasia Spa & Wellness Association (ASpa) in 2015. The ASpa Awards of Excellence were highly prestigious, and gave the industry a place to come together, celebrate and support our achievements as a collaborative group.”

The night will begin with a simple gala event, celebrating in true Spa & Wellness style. A glamorous event with a lot of happy, positive energy, live music and drinks will be served whilst awards are announced. It is hoped these awards will stimulate the Spa and Wellness Tourism industry and bring unity to the industry who has endured a difficult past few years and aim to celebrate each other’s efforts during these times.

“There are a lot of people and businesses who are doing amazing things in the spa, health, beauty and wellness travel space. They are improving the lives of others, providing inspiration, offering incredible experiences, or simply giving to those who need. Yet, they are not very good at telling the world how good they are!
And that has been one of the main catalysts to launch the Australasia’s Spa & Wellness Awards. To provide a platform to reward and recognise people and businesses doing remarkable things. To honour the great work they do or the quality products they supply.
When I decided to go ahead with the awards, I sought the council of some remarkable and respected people in the industry. I have to give a special shout out to Trent Munday who gave very clear advice on what not to do! And he reiterated if done well, it can really help bring both unity and high standards to an industry.
Quality, sustainability, innovation and originality are the fundamental criteria of our Awards. We want to recognise and praise the trailblazers of today who push the boundaries and set the bar high in their respective fields.”

Nominations for the awards close on 17 October 2022, with finalists shortlisted on 04 November 2022, and winners announced at the Awards Ceremony on 27 November 2022 at the Calile, Brisbane.
